Lock 25W, Diggle
A steep and exhilarating climb up towards the moors,
this flight really grips you. As an alternative to going
through Standedge Tunnel in your boat, you can walk
right across those moors ahead of you in the picture. |

The Bowell family
had a special trip, going to Salford Quays as well as
doing the South Pennine Ring. |
Hulme Lock
Leading onto the River Irwell en route to Salford Quays.
This trip entailed getting special permission from the
Manchester Ship Canal Company. This was the second time
one of our crews made this journey. |
 |
Lock 88, Rochdale Canal
The towpath has become a great place for users of Manchester's buzzing bars.
Diving under a tower block, the canal cuts a chasm
through a busy district, to emerge into a wide and
popular mooring at Castlefield, surrounded by converted
warehouses and ornate railway viaducts. |
