Thanks very much to all our entrants, for some smashing shots and some enterprising voyages.
The winner is - the Jordan family of Kent, who enjoyed the South Pennine Ring. The winning picture shows Hereford in Slattocks Top Lock on the Lancashire side of the Rochdale canal, in June 2009. Slattocks Top Lock Another entry from the winner

did the one way trip via the HNC, and took the chance for a side trip to Marple
Marple Aqueduct
The Peak Forest Canal crosses the River Bollin. This shot shows the boat lining up for the very narrow crossing.

Lock 25W, Diggle
A steep and exhilarating climb up towards the moors, this flight really grips you. As an alternative to going through Standedge Tunnel in your boat, you can walk right across those moors ahead of you in the picture.

The Bowell family
had a special trip, going to Salford Quays as well as doing the South Pennine Ring.
Hulme Lock
Leading onto the River Irwell en route to Salford Quays. This trip entailed getting special permission from the Manchester Ship Canal Company. This was the second time one of our crews made this journey.

Lock 88, Rochdale Canal
The towpath has become a great place for users of Manchester's buzzing bars. Diving under a tower block, the canal cuts a chasm through a busy district, to emerge into a wide and popular mooring at Castlefield, surrounded by converted warehouses and ornate railway viaducts.
